Recruitment Process
Identifying Vacancies
Vacancies arise based on strategic needs and operational demands. Each vacancy is clearly defined, including job responsibilities and necessary qualifications.
Advertising
Advertisements include a detailed job description, personal specifications, and instructions on how to apply.
To reach a diverse audience, vacancies are advertised through various channels, including the club’s website, relevant job boards, and local community centres.
Application Process
Candidates must complete a standard application form to ensure consistency in the information provided. This form collects details relevant to the position, including qualifications and experience.
Shortlisting
Shortlisted candidates are invited to an interview and, if applicable, a practical assessment.
A recruitment panel against set criteria reviews applications to ensure a fair and unbiased selection process.
Screening Procedures
Interviews
Questions are standardised and relevant to the role to assess the suitability of candidates fairly.
Structured interviews are conducted by at least two-panel members trained in equal opportunities and non-discriminatory interviewing techniques.
Reference Checks
All shortlisted candidates are provided with references before any job offer. These references are verified from reliable and credible sources, ideally from previous employers or academic institutions.
DBS Checks
DBS checks are repeated every three years or by changes in legislation.
All staff and volunteers working directly with children or vulnerable adults undergo Enhanced DBS checks.
Selection
All candidates are assessed against the same criteria, and the selection process is documented and stored securely for future reference.
The selection is based on merit, qualifications, and the ability to fulfil the job requirements.
Onboarding
A comprehensive induction program is provided to familiarise new hires with club policies, culture, and procedures.
Successful candidates are offered positions subject to satisfactory completion of all pre-employment checks.
Equal Opportunities
St.Albans City ABC is an equal opportunities employer. We ensure that no applicant or staff member receives less favourable treatment on the grounds of gender, race, ethnicity, disability, religion, sexual orientation, age, or any other factor not relevant to their job performance.
Monitoring and Review
This policy is reviewed annually to ensure its effectiveness and compliance with current employment laws and best practices.
